Effects of Holotrichia on Acetylchonine Esterase and Monoamine Oxidase Activities in Rat`s Brain

Abstract

|
|
Holotrichia have tested to study the effects concerning acetylcholine esterase and monoamine oxidase activities in rats brain.
In vitro, the level of lipid peroxide and activity of acetylcholine esterase in tissues of brain were propertionally decreased to concentration of extracts prepared from Holotrichia.
In vii o, after the extracts of Holotrichia was administered to the rat, the level of lipid peroxide was decreased according to treatment days and dose. And, enzyme activities and ratio of type conversion of xanthine oxidase were decreased, too. Also, enzyme activities of acetylcholine esterase were lowered.
These results suggest that the extract of Holotrichia might have an effect on treatment of dementia according to decreasing the activities of acetylcholine esterase, monoamine oxidase in brain.
